The Villages Beautiful Festival of Trees is set for December 6th (1pm -8pm) and Saturday December 7, (10am-4pm) at which time the draw is held to find who will win the trees, baskets, wall hangings and other artwork that will be on display throughout the festival. Festival entry is free (donation to the North Frontenac Food bank are encouraged) and fund are raised mainly through the purchase of tickets to be placed in boxes by the entries, as well as through a raffle that runs all weekend.
This year, there is also a gala opening night on Thursday, December 5, from 6pm – 8pm. The Gala is a ticketed event ($30, available at Sharbot Lake Pharmasave and Cardinal Café) which will feature catered hors d’oeuvres by Greg Butler, and a cash bar. The awards ceremony for all etry categories will be a feature of this licensed event.
Throughout Friday and Saturday, a stream of live music will add to the festive atmosphere of the 22nd annual festival (it started in 2001 and missed 2020 and 2021 due to Covid) For a list of entertainers, see the Festival of Trees ad in the November 29 issue of the Frontenac News)
The festival is the principle fundraising event supporting the work of Villages Beautiful, to enhance the villages in Central Frontenac Township.
