(Arden, ON) - A head on collision involving two vehicles on Highway 7 near Arden Road, has resulted in one person fatally injured and five others hospitalized with serious injuries.
Frontenac detachment (OPP) officers responded to a report of a collision just after 11:30 pm on Highway 7 close to Arden Road, in Sharbot Lake. There was heavy damage to both vehicles, with one leaving the Highway, coming to rest down a steep embankment. Five injured people were taken by Ambulance from the scene with serious injuries to various hospitals in the region.
Frontenac OPP officers found two occupants in a passenger sedan vehicle travelling east bound. There were four occupants in a sport utility vehicle travelling west bound. Extrication measures were needed to free a passenger from the sport utility vehicle.
The identity of the deceased is not being released, at this time, until next of kin have been notified.
Lennox & Addington OPP assisted Central Frontenac Fire department, Frontenac Paramedics, and the Chief Coroner of Ontario with this investigation. The OPP assigned a Technical Collision Investigator (TCI) and Collision Reconstructionist (RECON) to the scene to continue the investigation. The Highway was closed for approximately eight hours. There have been no charges laid in this incident.
