There is something to be said about supporting local: when the community works together, everyone benefits.
Backwoods Country Creations, a local home decor business from Sharbot Lake, was asked to host a Fundraiser Sign Making Class in support of the Grade 6, 7 and 8 classes at Land O' Lakes Public School in Mountain Grove. Annette Gray-Jackson approached Backwoods after seeing an advertisement on Facebook. Once she had the support of administration, order forms went home with students to share with their families. On Thursday, May 6th, the community rallied together to make this event a success, with a great turnout of 17 participants raising $255 during a two-hour class. All proceeds from the event went to the class fund for an end-of-year trip.
Michelle Allen, the owner of Backwoods Country Creations says she was pleased to be asked to host a class at LOLPS, stating "hosting fundraisers are so rewarding, as the participants discover their creative potential and create masterpieces for themselves, while also giving back to a worthy cause". Backwoods Country Creations hosts classes regularly, and in addition to fundraising opportunities, also offers private, in-home sign making classes.
