Caring for it, debating its perils, photographing its beauties, creating undue waste for it, recycling and reusing for it ... an endless set of decisions and thoughts go through our minds as soon as the word "environment" pops up.

This week the environment has been paramount in the heart and mind of many, but for the sake of this Roar, let's zoom into our Lions Club and tour our environmental moments.

In the previous Roar, I mentioned Tuvalu and promised to write a few words about it. There is no better time to do that than this week.

Tuvalu is a small country in the South Pacific made out of 9 islands. With the rising levels of ocean water, albeit a slow rise, the country decided to upload a virtual version of itself to the metaverse in an effort to preserve its history and culture.

Did we, the Lions Club of Land O’Lakes raise awareness to this little island country when we represented it at the Lions District A3 Convention? Will anyone attending read and know more? ... At least we did. And in that, to the environment, we recognize: "debating its perils".

And, in the same convention, we won the first prize in the District Trash Bash Fashion Show. Our club proudly submitted three outfits for the show. Here we submit: "recycling for it".

Did I mention we submitted three photos for the Environmental Contest? And in that stands: "photographing its beauties". No, we did not win here.

From there we thankfully accepted a partnership with the Land O'Lakes Garden Club and, together, invited the community to a clean-up-day, calling it Pitch in for Mother Earth. In here we recognize: "caring for it".

Our week will extend to a Yard Sale, that I would reference as: "re-using for it", and a garden build up, better listed as: "enhancing it".

Where do we go from here?

Till we meet again in a Roar, prep your summer gear, deck your patios with spring flowers, and meet us on the 27th of April for our Yard Sale where you can recycle items you no longer need, and reuse ones you need.
