Well, a lot of toes were tapping and moving at our dance on August 20th. Our DJ, Nate Whitelock, provided great music, especially as requests could be made. The lighting, laminated wrist bands and balloons just added to the fun. There were many new faces and a few have since joined our Lions Club. In fact, at our next dinner/meeting, 12 new members will be inducted. The positive energy is contagious!

After a two-year pause, our Golf Tournament was held at Hunter’s Creek Golf Club on August 27th. We had 46 players participate and 40 sponsors support the day. The weather was perfect and the food was plentiful. Funds raised with this tournament will be used to support our community. A big thank you to our local businesses and individuals who generously gave prizes and donations. What a great community we have North of 7! Check out some fun photos and videos on our Facebook page.

The Lions are planning another Yard Sale on Saturday, September 24th. If you have good quality items you would like to donate, please arrange to drop them off before September 23rd by contacting Red Emond at 613-336-8011 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We also encourage the community to donate nearly-new clothing which will be donated to Diabetes Canada, which is a cause that we focus on.

We had our last Farmers Market on Saturday, September 3rd. Hopefully, you stocked up on your honey, jellies, chickens or a cozy quilt to keep you warm this coming winter. Wasn’t the corn delicious? A big thank you to Gunning ‘s Corn of Tweed for their generous donation of local corn. This was your last chance until next Spring when the market returns. Thank you for supporting our market this summer. It promises to be bigger and even better next year!

Fall and Halloween are just around the corner so we are changing our fence display. This is something that we hope everyone enjoys as much as we have enjoyed doing the different themes throughout the year. Happy Fall!

Next issue…where does the name LIONS come from and what is the Lions Roar?
