Maberly Snowfest
On Saturday the Fall River Pub & Grill sponsored the 2nd annual Snowfest in Maberly, with the proceeds going this year to the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The well-organized event started at the Pub with a pancake breakfast. The weather was almost balmy, adding to the enjoyment of being outside on a beautiful winter day. Unfortunately, it was too warm for the scheduled skating demonstrations, but the old-timers hockey game went ahead, and was a big hit. Randy Cotas dog sled team drew the children like a magnet. They stood patiently in line, awaiting their turn for a ride on the river. The team did not seem to tire, but the musher was exhausted by the end of the day.
A steady stream of adventurous tobogganers kept the luge busy, where Christopher Conboy did an excellent job of keeping order. There was also face painting and horse drawn sleigh rides, dog-sled rides, a BBQ, and a dinner dance to finish off another great Snowfest.
