On Feb 20, five dedicated
civilian volunteers were sworn in at the Snow Road Snowmobile
Clubhouse. Alice Gilchrist and her son Lloyd, John Lahaise, Kirk Dyer,
Blain Mercier and Thomas Warwick have been training hard for 3 years
to become S.T.O.P. officers. They assist the OPP in patrolling
snowmobile trails, and sometimes cover up to 200 km in a single
patrol, and may put in as many 20 hours a week. Warwick was absent
from the swearing-in ceremony.
