NAEC academic awards nightby Will CybulskiOn October 3, North Addington Education Centre honoured its senior students by presenting them with academic awards resulting from last years school efforts.

A procession of various students came up on stage throughout the function, and the significance of different young people being fed was well summed up by Vice Principal Wayne Rice in his closing remarks. I have only been here a short time, said Mr. Rice, but I see that North Addington is a special school in a special way. Over 50% of the student body was represented here tonight, not including the multiple awards.

A wide array of proficiency awards was handed out for Arts, Business, Technology, Mathematics, Science, Phys Ed, Family Studies, Communications and Social Sciences.

Eighteen students were named to the Honour Roll for achieving an average of 75% or more for their years work, and 31 young scholars received their 80 Club Pins for maintaining an 80% or better average.

Thirty three students were presented with their Junior or Senior N letter, and eight received pen sets.

This years gold watch winner was Dawn Ronfeld, and Lester Academic Achievement Awards were accepted by Anne Hagerman (Gr. 9), Kate Adams (Gr. 10), Nicole Snider (Gr. 11) and Dawn Ronfeld (Gr. 12).

Retired teacher and Land OLakes Lions Club representative Ben Miedema handed out 13 Lions service awards to students for their successes in the schools mentoring program.

Congratulations to our school and its students for consistently producing top-notch results.
