The credit program finds a new home by David Brison Sharbot Lake High school principal Tom Taylor, who just last week was given responsibility for the Limestone School Boards continuing education program in the greater Sharbot Lake area, has announced that the credit program will be located in the Retail Centre on the corner of Highways # 38 and 7. The opening date has been set for October 1, 2001. The credit program presently has 20 students, who will be working towards high school credits under the direction of Ms. Susan Wing. Susan is presently housed in a small office in SLHS. The program will move into one half of the office which now houses the general insurance office of Brad Flear. The Retail Centre location is a natural, says Mr. Taylor. It is easily accessible to students; there is good parking, and it is close to the Literacy Program. Our intention is to keep the lines of communication open with the Literacy Program. A new Community Technology Development Centre, directed by SHLS teacher Mark Elliott, has just been opened at the Retail Centre (see article above). The Land OLakes Communications Network, chaired by Jim MacPherson (yet another SLHS teacher) is a lead partner in the development of the new technology centre, and his office is also located at the Retail Centre. Mr. Taylor expects that these ties with the high school will strengthen the credit program.
