Wisdom of the Week: "Life doesn't get easier, you grow stronger and wiser".

The Autumn Equinox (beginning of Fall) officially starts Monday, September 22nd. I remember seeing trees already changing colours in August, so for farm animals it feels like Fall already. Noel Freeman started hay bales for his cows in August as well.

Thank you to Bob Botting for catching a rogue cow (steer) on the the K&P trail on August 31st, he safely herded him back home. The owner was grateful the cow did not get a ticket from the Trail Warden ;)

Congratulations to Roy Bradshaw, partner of Marie White of Napanee and Harlowe 'Ol Tyme Fiddlers on receiving the Melvin Jones Fellowship from the Newburgh Camden Lions Club. Rock on Roy!! This high award recognizes compassionate folks and groups who exhibit humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for humanity and the world.

Duck season starts Sept. 27- just around the corner and I know we can count on folks to respect privacy along the fence lines, property lines, and to also hunt in a safe and moderate style.

Many folks rocked Saturday's Alzheimer walk, which started from Pine Meadow Nursing Home in Northbrook featuring music by Joanne Milligan, bake table, auction items and lots of fun times for a good cause. As well, the featured coffee was “Forget Me Not” brand specially formatted by North Roast Coffee in Kingston who make it fresh and fantastic. That same coffee will be sold at our Henderson Vendor Bash on Oct. 4 and Pam Lemke, the Alzhemier rep will be one of the many vendors. We have far too many vendors to list them all- so come and check us out.

Neil Purchase and Marilyn Tellier hosted another successful  open mic at the Arden Legion, celebrating their one year anniversary of partnering with the Arden Legion. The Legion makes yummy food and bends over backwards for all of us.  We;re excited about their new floor project scheduled for November of this year.

This coming Sat. Sept. 20, Harlowe will feature an open mike in the afternoon- so bop on over and live it up in beautiful downtown Harlowe. The scenery and coloured leaves are super duper to watch when driving up.   Toodle loo!

Snow Road
Bev Elliott
Alice Gilchrist

We hope everyone has been enjoying this wonderful stretch of sunny warm weather.  Our hummingbirds seem to have headed south even though the weather is still pleasant.  A couple of late stragglers stopped for a refill of sweet nectar in Snow Road on Saturday.

September 24th at 7pm is the date and time for the annual meeting of the Snow Road Community Centre.  Everyone welcome.

Music Night is Thursday, September 25th will feature “Shenanigans”; the duo of Anne Archer and Jon McLurg.

Culture Days will include several presentations at the end of this month and early October.  Check the website www.snowroadcommunitycentre.com for specifics on a variety of interesting and informative sessions.

Please stay ‘road aware’ while driving around our country roads but take note of the changing colors.  It is always a delight to take a road tour to admire the beauty of nature in our area – both Frontenac and Lanark.   Drop us a note to let us know your favourite route or view.  If you spot an interesting display that some crafty person has created in their garden or along the roadside we would love to hear about it.

Many of you have been harvesting the produce from your gardens and preserving the goodness to enjoy over the winter and those with a bit extra have generously shared with others in the community.

Chuckle for the week:  Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
