KIDS FIT: Where kids get fit and kids fit in: New to the area is indoor soccer. Northern Frontenac Community Services would like to thank GoodLife Children’s Foundation for their generous grant to enable this program to start up in Harrowsmith, Verona, and Sharbot Lake. We would also like to thank Soccer Plus International for the donation of some of the equipment. Currently there are just a couple of spaces left in each age group at Prince Charles P.S. and a large number of spaces available at Harrowsmith P.S., and Sharbot Lake High School. Seniors Centre in Sharbot Lake upcoming events: There is a Diabetes Support Group on Tuesday, 19 October from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., facilitator is Janice Morrow. On Thursday, 4 November at 1:30 p.m. there is “You and Your Vision Health” information session. This workshop is facilitated by Anne Chiarelli from the CNIB. Please call Northern Frontenac Community Services at 613-279-3151 to reserve your place. Both workshops are free and transportation may be available.

Licensed Child Care at the Child Centre: Our Day Care has capacity for 36 children. We have infant, toddler and preschool spaces. Children learn through play-based programming provided by Registered Early Childhood Educators. Children are provided with 2 snacks and lunch each day. We offer full time and part time care, Monday – Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. Our After School program provides programming from 3 – 6 pm for children aged 6 – 12 years of age, Monday to Friday. Children arrive from various schools by bus. Children are provided snack and activities each day. We also offer extended programming on PD days and school holidays from 7:30am – 6 pm. We have space in all programs and subsidies are available through the city of Kingston for those who qualify. If you would like more information about our licensed programs please call 613-279-3366.

Youth Afterschool Program: Tuesday at Clarendon PS for ages 6 to 9, Wednesday at Hinchinbrooke PS for ages 10 to 15, Thursdays at Land O'Lakes PS for 10 to 15. For more information call The Child Centre, 613-279-2244.

Youth Dance: Friday, 22nd October at the Oso Soldiers Memorial Hall in Sharbot Lake, Northern Frontenac Community Services is holding a youth dance. The dance is open to youth in grades 5 to 9. Time will be 6 to 9 p.m. with a cost of $6 per person. Sound on Sound Productions has been hired for a great light show along with awesome music. Canteen will be on site serving pop, water, chips and chocolate bars.

Clothes for Kids: The Clothes for Kids campaign is now under way. If you have a child that is in need of a winter coat please call Jan at the Child Centre 613-279-2244. The ages are from birth to age12 and no size bigger than 16. The deadline for registration is November 12. If you would like to donate money or a winter coat please feel free to do so.
