ATV'S in school yard endanger studentsby Jeff Green There is an old railway bed running through the yard at Prince Charles PS in Verona, and there have been incidents of ATVs and motorcycles riding through the yard during school hours in recent weeks.

They even veer off the railway bed and head toward the portables, Principal Sue Arris complains, and we have had to move children quickly off the school yard many times.

The school has put up fences at either end of the yard, but they have been removed. There is a perfectly good trail in the woods behind the yard, but the riders are too lazy to use it, Sue Arris said.

Joe Marshall of the Frontenac OPP said that officers on patrol have been keeping an eye on the area, and will approach anyone who is trespassing.

The school is considering putting concrete barriers in place to block both ends of the school yard and force riders to bypass the school grounds.

Meanwhile, students at Prince Charles will continue to have to dodge motorcycles and ATVs in their school yard.
