Adopt-A-Book Program

NAEC's Resource Centre is going to be promoting an Adopt-a- book" program for the library. The result of this program will be a number of new resources added to our secondary library. The benefits of the program are twofold: it increases library resources and celebrates a community of readers. The program gives an opportunity for community members to honour and celebrate students, friends, and neighbours through the gift of literature, and reinvigorates the love for reading and the love of books.

This program will encourage and stimulate donations to the library to mark special occasions, and can be seen as an exceptionally worthwhile alternative to regular forms of gift-giving. Books may be purchased and donated to the library in honour of any special event. The donor will fill out a form, and a book notation will be permanently placed in the book acknowledging the gift. Tax receipts will be issued for donations over $10. Please make out cheques to LDSB Charitable Trust Fund".

Books can be donated to the library with dedications for a number of purposes: a child's birthday; holiday celebrations such as Christmas, Easter, and Valentine's Day; celebrating passages such as graduations, births, marriages and celebrating special teachers. Each month, a small column will be included in the newsletter acknowledging the donation and the donors (if they wish to be named).

The program can be both relevant and enriching. Through the generosity of our community, books can become a way of expressing feelings about one's self and others.

Please come out and give the gift of Literacy and Learning.
