A new venture at MERA For 2004Although this area is rich in artists and artisans, there a few places for them to show their work. MERA, at the Schoolhouse in McDonaldss Corners, has announced a new program, offering the building as a location for regular art shows. Called MERALEA, a shortened form of MERA League of Artists, this committee will organize a regular selection of exhibitions to run throughout the year. Some will be one-person shows, others group shows, some with a theme and some will be childrens art. The hall will have a picture rail installed for easy hanging, and the meeting room will also be used for large shows. There will be small fee, $10 for members and $15 for non-members, for artists submitting work and MERA will take a very reasonable 20% on sales.
Future plans include specific times for the Schoolhouse to be open on weekends, and the organizing of traveling exhibitions to take work to other locations in the immediate area.
Artists are invited to participate in the Inaugural Exhibition taking place on January 25. One to three works for sale, mounted or framed, ready to hang, to be delivered to the Schoolhouse on the afternoon of Jan. 14 or 17. Each work submitted. must have identification attached giving: artist name, address, telelphone number, the title, medium & price of the work.
Due to limited space, the hanging committee may not be able to accommodate all works.
MERALEA invites all artists to participate in this new venture and to encourage the visibility of our talent. For more information call 268-9999
