Unique LO'L Motorcycle Rally Announcementby Will CybulskiCloyne - Colour tours are a popular fall event in the Ottawa Valley, and with that attraction in mind, a different sort of trip throughout the area for motorcycling enthusiasts is in the planning stages for later this year. Rally Connex, out of Grimsby, Ontario, is organizing a GPS (Global Positioning System)-guided, dual sport/off highway motorcycle ride on October 5 and 6. This particular ride will take advantage of the beauty of our fall colours, and the starting point and headquarters for the tour will be Land O'Lakes Inn at Cloyne. The ride will explore the myriad of back roads and forest access roads of the Opeongo mountain range in the Madawaska Highlands. Entrants for the event may participate in one of two ways. They may leisurely ride the route, enjoying the scenery and countryside, while following directions downloaded to their GPS units. Or, riders may get more serious and take part in the Rally Connex Challenge, which will reward those who circumvent the course most precisely, while finding hidden checkpoints enroute. Sponsors for the event are Tekrider Protective Wear, Inside Motorcycle (a motorcyclist dedicated publication), Motovan Corporation (an aftermarket supplier), and Cliffshore Small Engines of Cobourg. Additionally, Touratech-QV 2.5 Software, QV-Navigator Maps, and Canadian Maps will be supplying the GPS software and mapping software to lay out the event. Following the success of its inaugural spring off highway/dual sport ride held in conjunction with the Ride To Remember, and believing that this type of function has a place in North America, Rally Connex has pledged to organize a number of similar rides throughout Ontario next year. More information and entry forms for the October run can be obtained from www.rallyconnex.com.
