South Frontenac gets funds for soccer fields The residents of South Frontenac, as well as two other Ontario communities will soon see improvements to their recreational infrastructure through two investments announced under the CanadaOntario Infrastructure Program.

The Township of South Frontenac will use its funds to construct a new soccer field in Sunbury Park and install lighting at an existing soccer field in Harrowsmiths Centennial Park. The project will increase the total number of hours available for soccer by 50%, improve the quality of local sport facilities, and enable the municipality to hold soccer tournaments. Construction is expected to be complete by 2003.

The Government of Canada through Industry Canada and the Government of Ontario through SuperBuild will each contribute up to $26,880 to the project. South Frontenac Township will invest the balance of the projects total eligible cost of $134,400.

This is a great project which will better equip us to meet the growing demand for soccer and enable us to host regional sports tournaments, said Phil Leonard, Mayor of South Frontenac. I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this project a success, because without your efforts this project would not become a reality.

With the participation of the Government of Canada
