Verona Mourns Don Sniderby Inie Platenius

Verona is mourning the sudden loss of a well-loved and respected friend and supporter, Don Snider, who died in a car accident last week. Ripples of shock and sorrow run through the community as we try to assimilate his passing.Mourning_Don_SniderDons joyous smile and enthusiastic encouragement were a bright light in all of his many roles. In his work with the Verona Free Methodist Youth Group, in helping a wide group of community youth to hone their skills in life and music, and when helping a friend and neighbour, his gentle humour and his keen mind made all who knew him a little brighter. Among his many talents, Don was a topnotch sound engineer, a skill he honed in his years on the road with the gospel group The Snider Family. From Friday morning through Sunday night of the Verona Festival, he was among the first to arrive and the last to leave, working through the day and into the night, always anticipating the technical glitches, always enthusiastic and encouraging with the musicians especially the young ones. Many of the young musicians in our area are Dons prot. From teaching, to lending equipment, to volunteering his time, his equipment and the big old bus, his encouragement and enthusiasm fostered their talent and their love of music. Dons deep Christian faith fueled his positive attitude. As one friend and neighbour remarked, He was a good ambassador to God. Don was one of the rare people who could anticipate your need, lend a hand, do the job right and never put himself forward. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Darlene, children Derek and Melissa, and to his large and loving family. His passing leaves us deeply sorrowful, but his living has enriched all who knew him.
