Location of the credit program still unknown an updateby David Brison

The Limestone Board of Education still doesnt know where the credit program will be located, but they are now investigating alternative sites.

Susan Wing is employed as a teacher for the program in Sharbot Lake and is presently housed in a very small office at the Sharbot Lake High School just barely large enough for two desks. Students cant work there. The Boards books and computer equipment for the courses are still located at the North Frontenac Literacy Program building on Highway # 7. Susan is presently going back and forth between the high school and Highway #7 to get books many of the books are stored in her car and the computer equipment is not available for students. The Board terminated their agreement with the North Frontenac Literacy Program on July 19, 2001 although it would be possible for them to again use space in the North Frontenac building. We would welcome them back, says Joyce Bigelow, NFLP Executive Director.

Jack Fox, The Limestone Boards Executive Facilitator, was in Sharbot Lake on Friday and new developments might follow. Jack Fox returned a phone call to The News shortly before we went to press on Monday. He said, Dale Midwood [Principal of the Limestone School of Community Education] and Tom Taylor, [Principal of Sharbot Lake Public High School] are looking for alternative sites and I expect that we will have an announcement in the near future. I would like your readers to know that we expect that there will be a slight expansion in our credit program, and the Ministry [Training, Colleges, and Universities] has, I understand, expanded the literacy-to-credit program at the North Frontenac Literacy Program.
