Grant for Cloyne MuseumThanks to a grant of $22,000 from the Trillium Foundation, the Cloyne and District Historical Society is delighted to be able to proceed with renovations to its current museum. Some of the renovation details covered by the grant are: the laying of a wood floor over the present concrete one, the building of a wheelchair ramp, the installation of a de-humidifying system to decrease the amount of humidity the artifacts are presently exposed to, installation of a new lighting system, purchasing of some good display units, and the replacement of the original sign, which was beginning to show its age even before being partially destroyed by the hurricane this summer. The grant from the Trillium Foundation does not cover any part of the expansion project, so fundraising for that is continuing at a great pace, and the Grand Opening Celebration of the new facility will take place next summer, so watch for news of this gala event. The Cloyne and District Historical Society welcomes new members. We meet the third Monday of every month at 1:30 p. m. in the Barrie Township hall, so come join us. We are always eager to accept any artifacts you might have that pertain to the history of the area. If you arent sure of your treasures worth, bring it along and let us help you decide.
