Flyers are still on a roll, winning both games this weekend. Saturday night they went to Campbellford, knowing that if they lost, Campbellford would be tied with them for third place. With excellent goaltending from Rob Laurin, the Flyers won the game 6-4. Flyers goals came from: Ryan Everaar (3), Derek Mack (2) and Paul Amedeo (2). This line has continued to set the league on fire, and when the league statistics come out, I would not be surprised if they are in the top three. On January 6, it was the line of Corey Thompson scoring 2, Mike Thompson 1, and Matt Feeley was centering the line, scoring 1. As coach Ryan Vince was saying after the game this Sunday, if both lines ever get going in the same game, there isn't a team in the league that could touch the Flyers.

Frontenac_FlyersThe game at our arena this past Sunday against the league-leading Napanee Raiders was very exciting, and was played in front of a good crowd. Scoring for the Flyers in the first period: Derek Mack assists from Ryan Everaar, Paul Amedeo; Raiders came back on a power play with a goal from Sean Bowen. In the second period: Flyers scored 2, first Derek Mack assisted by Paul Amedeo the second goal was scored a power play goal by Ryan Everaar assisted by Paul Amedeo; The Raiders came back after Flyers goalie Rob Laurin wrenched his knee, possibly seriously. This meant BJ Kirouac had to come in cold and the Raiders got two goals from Ryan Sharpe and Mike Casselman, ending the second period tied 3-3. The third belonged to the Flyers, as they came out determined to win the game. Matt Lowe scored on a power play what proved to be the winner, with assists from Alex Bowes, Mike Langille; The fourth goal was scored by Ryan Everaar, assisted by Derek Mack; the third and last goal was an empty net goal, scored by Cory Thompson, assisted by Flyers goalie BJ Kirouac, putting the icing on the cake.

The regular season is rapidly coming to a end, with every game almost like the playoffs. The Flyers want to end the season at the top of the league, or as close to the top as possible. Frontenac_Flyers Presently the Raiders have 38 points, with four games remaining. The remaining teams have seven games to play. Picton Pirate have 37 points, Frontenac 35 points, Campbellford 29 points, and the Amherstview Jets 26 points. So it is easy to see how important the remainder of the schedule will be to the Flyers. The Flyers do not want to end up fourth or fifth as they would have to play a mini series to see who would end up in fourth place. The winner of the mini series would end up playing against the first-place team. This was the downfall of the Flyers last year; they won the series in two tough games, then immediately had to play the Raiders. They took them to six games before losing, but there was no doubt the Raiders took the time off to heal and rest while the Flyers and Jets were banging each other up; thus the Flyers were worn out physically.

Frontenac_FlyersThe next two weeks the Flyers are playing three games at home. The first game will be this Friday Jan.18, at 8.15 p.m., against the Amherstview Jets. The next home game is against Athen Areos on Friday Jan. 25 at 8.15 p.m., and the third game is our normal time Sunday Jan. 27 at 3.15 p.m. against Amherstview Jets. It will be interesting to see how the crowds are the two Friday night games. There are some who would like the Flyers to change to Friday night, and the Flyers decided to try two games in a row and see if this is what the fans want. With the league so close, they are very important games so if there is not a good crowd I guess they will know. Let the Flyers know what is best for you. Lets face it - the fans and sponsor keep the Flyers going in this community.

If you haven't got your 50 tickets, which are at various stores in the area, pick one up. If they all sold, there is a potential to win $5,000.

See you at the arena!!!!
