South Frontenac Township Council
Conservation Authorities
Rideau Valley and Quinte Conservation Authorities gave summary reports on the past years work. Both are completing their portion of a province-wide groundwater study which has monitored flows, water quality, etc. Quinte reported that a study of benthos, the community of plants and organisms that live in or on the bottom of water bodies indicates the streams in their area are healthy.
ATVs on Public Roads
Eldon Hamilton and Patricia Dawson of the Frontenac ATV Club invited one council member and by-law officer Ken Gilpin to join their committee to draw up recommendations concerning permission for ATVs to use certain portions of municipal roads. Mayor Lake said Gilpin was free to attend such meetings on his own time, but not as a township employee. Councillor Davidson will be the Council representative, with Councillor Smith as alternate.
Badour Farm Subdivision
Council postponed any decision to close portions of the unopened road allowances between Central and South Frontenac, pending receipt of full information concerning the applicants revised plan of subdivision.
The Rest: Interim property taxes will be due March 31; 2003 dog tag sales were more than double the previous year; almost everyone will be going to AMO (Association of Ontario Municipalities) conference next week, and the Harrowsmith S&A Hall was a cold place on the evening of February 17!
