South Frontenac Council

The first agenda in February was relatively light. Two Sydenham residents, Georgette Donofrio and Greg Allen were appointed to the Natural Environment Committee, and the Sydenham Water Committee, respectively.

Public Works Manager Stephan suggested that a request for improvements to Little Long Lake Road in Loughborough District, combined with other recent requests points to the need to develop a multi-year plan for road improvements. He noted that any liability arising from the condition of district roads is borne by the entire Township. Council passed a resolution to consider the development of a minimum three-year plan for road improvements in each district. The present problems of Little Long Lake Road will rest with Loughborough District councillors.

Council passed a resolution to protest MPACs decision to assess maple syrup producers who have a minimum of 1,200 to 1,500 taps, a permanent road sign, and a web page selling syrup, as industrial, rather than agricultural.

Council authorized staff to file a Notice of Intent to apply for possible grants to offset the costs of developing a recycling program in South Frontenac. This would allow future grants to be applied to all work done after the notice of intent has been filed.
