CENTRAL FRONTENAC RAILWAY HERITAGE SOCIETY works to preserve the railway heritage of the area, mounting displays, renovating memorabilia and a caboose (open July and August, 11am-3pm, Saturdays only) and developing The Railway Heritage Park in Sharbot Lake as a tourist destination. CLOYNE & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY meets at 1 p.m. on the third Monday of the month (with the exception of July & August) in the Barrie Community Hall. Focusing onthe area's captivating history, its families, stories and legends, we travel by bus to discover lost settlements, ghost towns, old mines and logging sites. Meetings are open to everyone, new members are always welcome!
