Letters: November 25Re: Ian Trickett's Passing, Cam Allen Ian’s love for Central Frontenac, Ken Fisher Re: Ian Trickett's PassingIt was with some sadness that we learned of Mr Trickett’s recent passing (CF Chief Building Inspector Dies, Frontenac News, Nov 18/10). The All-Tech Consulting Group is currently completing the ''Mature Living Townhouse Complex'' on Clement Road for the Central Frontenac Non-Profit Housing Corporation. We had experienced working with Mr. Trickett in the past; however, not with an assembly method as advanced as the one we are constructing now. It will be the first CHBA ''Green House Certified'' complex of its kind in Ontario offering efficiencies in water, energy and air quality ranked amongst the best residences in Canada. A residence that every citizen in Central Frontenac can be proud of, one that will offer those seniors who wish to remain at home, a home of dignity. I read the comment of his wife, Lisa, ''He had a wide ranging curiosity, he wanted to know about everything'' with a hesitation in my voice. Ian openly grasped the advanced technology we are employing. He thoroughly enjoyed the fact he could come to the site uninvited to watch a building such as this rise up in his township; he felt a pride in overseeing this, evident to all the trades working on this site. This was a rare quality for a township building official in what we recognize as a thankless, sometimes politically interrupted position. The citizens of Central Frontenac have lost a dedicated, fair and honest chief building official. We shall miss his insight. On behalf of all the major trades involved in this project - Buckley Construction, Eastern Ontario ICF, Frontenac Roofing, Alex McCoy Plumbing & Heating, Shea Construction, Tackaberry Construction, Phase One Electric, Renewable Energy of Plum Hollow and ourselves - we will be sending a donation to Ian's chosen charity. It is our final recognition to a respected gentleman. Cam Allen L.I.W. NCH Ian’s love for Central Frontenac(CF Chief Building Inspector Dies, Frontenac News, Nov 18/10)I first went to see Ian Trickett in the fall of '08, when I was planning to build a second floor deck and stairs on the back of my home to create an additional exit for my tenants. Ian was generous with his time, advice and connections to make it all happen. In the course of three or four meetings I got to appreciate his love for Central Frontenac. He could tell me on which property off Highway 38 the front yard emptied into the Ottawa River and the back yard emptied into the Rideau River. And there was his latest passion for a small sailboat. Never mind his wry humour. Living nearly next to the municipal offices, I would share a wave with him frequently. I had recently remarked on new construction in the area. He proudly responded that the value of building permits in the last six months exceeded all previous records. God bless you Ian. We will miss you. Ken Fisher |
