1st Cloyne Sparks, Brownies, & Guides

By Lynn McEvoy

The 1st Cloyne group is getting ready to start for 2010-2011 and is pleased to offer program for girls in the Spark, Brownie and Guide level. We meet every Wednesday from 2:40 – 4:20. To meet the need of accommodating travel time we pick up the girls from the NAEC and walk them across the road to the Barrie Township Hall in Cloyne. If pickup after the meeting is an issue for parents, transportation can be arranged.

We know the girls will be hungry so a snack will be provided. Our program is age appropriate and the girls enjoy being in a group where they can have fun with one another and not have to deal with the worry of peer pressure. We follow the program as outlined by Girl Guides of Canada, working towards obtaining badges for topics such as First Aid, Camping, Our Community, Active Living, Environmental Responsibility, and Women in Science, to name just a few. A lot of this is done through interactive activities and crafts, and don’t forget singing.

We are lucky to have qualified leaders who have been in the Guiding or Scouting programs for many years. Being part of the larger organization means we have support for making a fun and interesting program that both leaders and girl members enjoy. There are many traditions that have been in Guiding for years. Many Moms will remember them and they make the experience for today’s girls special.

We are holding registration on Tues. September 14, 6:30 -8:00 pm at the Barrie Twp Hall in Cloyne. We would very much like to have you join us for this great opportunity for girls in our area. Any questions, call Lynn, 613-336-0771
