SFCSC's upcoming Seniors Charity Golf Tournamentby Julie DrukerThe Southern Frontenac Community Services Corporation (SFCSC) will be holding their 2nd annual Seniors’ 50 plus Charity Golf Tournament at the Inverary Golf Club on Saturday July 24. The tournament will be in the format of a four-person team scramble with a 1pm shotgun start. The cost is $70 per person and includes golf cart, green fees, a full chicken dinner plus prizes. All proceeds from the tournament will go towards funding the myriad of services offered to seniors through the SFCSC, whose goal is to “assist seniors in continuing to live independently in their own homes safely and with dignity for as long as they wish”. These services include transportation, home help, friendly visitors, enhanced day care, and foot care. Dave Linton, who chairs the tournament, is hoping to raise the profile of the SFCSC through this tournament. He is also hoping to increase participation at this year's event to at least 90 participants. In his words, “Today there is fierce competition for the fundraising dollar and with that in mind we are hoping to raise awareness of the services that the SFCSC offers to seniors, families and children in our huge catchment area and the positive impact that these services have on our communities in terms of increased social stability, low crime rates and the well-being of our seniors' population.” The catchment area of SFCSC includes the districts of Portland, Storrington, Loughborough and rural Kingston north of the 401. To register for the upcoming tournament call Dave Linton @ 613 376-6883, or drop in to the Sydenham Office, Rural VISIONS Centre at 4419 George Street, Sydenham.
