Henry Hogg to stand for re-election

by Jeff Green

Veteran Addington Highlands Reeve Henry Hogg has decided to run again.

Hogg was the first Reeve of the township when it was formed in 1998, serving for six years. He then took three years off, but ran and won again in 2006 for a four-year term.

“There are some projects that I would like to see through to completion,” he said in announcing his decision to run again. “The Family Health Team in Northbrook is one of them, and on the regional level the Eastern Ontario broadband project is another.”

Henry Hogg is serving as Warden of Lennox and Addington County this year, and was off to Toronto this week for the annual Ontario Good Roads Association and Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference.

“We have meetings set up with several ministries. We are looking for more money to run the ambulances,” he said, although he was not overly optimistic. “We don't exactly tell the province what to do.”

Henry Hogg has been associated with municipal politics in the north end of Lennox and Addington County since 1985. He served one term on Denbigh Council, and two as Reeve before municipal amalgamation in 1998.

Until last year, he ran a bus line, but he is now retired.
