WHITE, Hartsel

It is with sad hearts that we wish to announce the passing of Hartsel White at the age of 92. He passed away peacefully, July 9 2009 in Napanee Hospital.

Son of David R. White and Catherine Jane (Cousins) he is predeceased by his brothers Raymond (Edith), Thomas (Belle), Morley (Alma), and his sister Lucy Campell (Deck). He is also predeceased by his wife Esther (Hermer) and by his son David. He is survived by his son Rodney (Jenny) and his daughter Judy Whitefield as well as grandchildren Michael White, Julie White, Alex & Lucy Whitefield.

Hartsel was known locally as a Veteran of WW2 and a nature lover. He was able to combine his passion for people and the outdoors, and together with his wife he created a few very successful businesses in the area. Hartsel’s clever sense of humour and love of life were gifts that all could enjoy. He was always known to tell a good story and often people would gather round him to listen, this gift stayed with him until the end. His love of music fed his soul and he spent many an evening in the local halls of the area calling square dances or dancing himself. As a returned veteran of WW2, Hartsel had a keen sence of community and the value of helping others. Always a devote and caring father and grandfather, Hartsel will be always loved and remembered by his family.

As he has requested there will be no service at this time. A gathering is being planned to celebrate his life.

We were there for each other always, Through good times, laughter and tears.
Now she is with the Lord, Her life on earth is complete
My forever friend has gone on, At life’s end again we will meet.
