All Quiet at Robertsville
The Sharbot Lake OPP station parking lot was full to the brim with police cars on Monday, January 28, in anticipation of the possibility that the winter calm that has descended on the Robertsville mine site might be broken. Frontenac Ventures Corporation has made it clear through their lawyers that they consider that on the 28th of January they can begin a test drilling program according to a schedule they provided to Justice Cunningham in Kingston last September. Although the company had indicated that from an operational standpoint, they are still 2-4 weeks away from commencing their drilling program, police were prepared for an attempt to re-establish a blockade at the site, but none materialised. Algonquin and Ontario negotiators continued to meet in Perth this week. Contempt of court proceedings against seven individuals who defied a court order in September are scheduled to resume on February 14 in Kingston. |
