Rock Lake Seniors

The Rock Lake Seniors meet in the Lions Hall in Verona the second week of each month, except July and August. Upon receiving a potluck lunch, Grace is given. The meeting is opened with the seniors theme song followed by the Lord’s Prayer. President Doris Ritchie thanks the conveners and the entertainers from January to June. We didn’t have entertainment in January because of freezing rain. February we had the fabulous Kevin Simpson. March was games day and in April we had the wonderful “Gospel Memories”. May was the tremendous Homer Card and Mill Creek. In June was Ross Clow with Glen and Linda who were also wonderful singers. Everyone enjoyed all entertainers with toe tapping and hands clapping, and singing along.

We have 55 seniors on roll call. Happy birthday and happy anniversary are sung to the seniors. The minutes of the meeting are read by secretary Jean McIlroy. Business arising from the minutes and correspondence are discussed. Bus committee Yvonne Guthro and Phyllis Harper discuss trips with the seniors. Card Convenor Mary Meltz sends get-well and sympathy cards to the seniors. The treasurer’s report is read by our treasurer Brenda Orchard. Conveners for the next month are announced. The meeting is then adjourned with the singing of “O Canada”.
