Local Fare

During the summer months, the Frontenac News has been profiling local restaurants.
For our final Local Fare Installation, we chose Cloyne, Denbigh and the surrounding area. We hope you have enjoyed our profiles and continue to eat locally!!

Cloyne

Good Stuff Bakery

Situated right next to North Addington Education Center on Highway 41, Good Stuff Bakery serves the best chocolate cake in the land - the decadent cake dubbed Death By Chocolate.

As well as a wide array of delicious baked goods such as butter tarts, pies and cinnamon buns, Good Stuff also serves daily lunch specials such as quiche, salads, soups and pastas all for an affordable price.

In her second year of business, Owner Jean Heineman offers excellent food in the village of Cloyne . Open on weekends from spring to early fall.

Marble Lake Lodge

Situated at the corner of Hwy 506 and Marble Lake Rd. , Marble Lake Lodge Restaurant offers a lovely environment to eat a variety of chef’s specials.

The menu consists of anything from homemade thin crust pizza to Sunday night ribs to Jack Daniels Grilled Salmon, with prices ranging from $6.95-$13.95 for nightly dinner specials. Breakfast starts at $4.50 and there are always delicious dessert specials such as the Banana Foster, which consists of caramelized bananas a la mode.

Owner Darcy Widtek provides a fun family atmosphere where people can eat together and cottage together.

Denbigh

41 Stop

Located on Hwy 41 just south of the Hwy 28 intersection, 41 Stop offers Denbigh’s homemade pizza and fast food.

On the menu, combo meals are $6.49 for anything from burgers to the ever-popular western, with fries and a drink. To round off the menu are homemade pies for $8.00 and 28 flavors of Tracy ’s Ice cream, made in the Ottawa Valley and served at the Cool Cow Ice Cream Parlour.

Owners Susan and Barry Lee have filled the need for many things in Denbigh, and are happy to be providing so many services to the locals and seasonal residents, because 41 Stop also offers a gas bar and variety store, as well as the ice cream parlor and chip wagon in the summer.

Swiss Inn Motel and Restaurant
Set at the intersection of Highways 41 and 28 in Denbigh, the Swiss Inn Restaurant serves a little something for everybody with its Canadian and Swiss Menu.

Specializing in classic Swiss meals such as the Supreme De Volaille Jurassienne, which consists of a boneless chicken breast breaded in Swiss cheese and bread crumbs and then sautéed, with soup, choice of potato and vegetables and dessert for $14.35. Or the G’schnaetzlets from Zürich, which consists of Pork Tenderloin cooked in a cream, wine and mushroom sauce, including the same soup, potato and vegetable and dessert for $16.95

Owner Werner has catered to the local clientele in his and his wife Martha’s 30 something years in business. He hopes to keep the business family-oriented for generations to come, which is why he is pleased to have daughter-in-law Karen Lips taking over some of the management duties.
