Eastern Ontario Development Program

by Jeff Green

Funding has been secured by the Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDC) in the 15 Eastern Ontario counties for a series of economic development programs. Among the programs are: a skills development program (up to $5,000) to help businesses offer enhanced training for their employees; a youth internship program (up to $2,500 per month) to encourage employers to provide young post-secondary graduates with employment; a business planning initiative program; an access to capital program; and a community capacity building program.

Frontenac CFDC Executive Director Anne Pritchard said she is “pleased that the Eastern Ontario Development Program has been funded for this year, and we are hopeful that the program will be maintained in future years.”

Information about these initiatives is available at the Frontenac CFDC at 372-1414. An information meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6th at the FCFDC office in Harrowsmith at 9:30 am.

Application deadlines are September 18th for all programs, and there will be further deadlines for certain programs if funding is still available.
