Long Lake Walleye project

On August 12 volunteers from the Long Lake Property Owners Association moved 15 cubic yards of rock rubble out to shoals in the lake. The round stone, which is ideal spawning material for walleye, was transferred from the access point to selected island shoals using half a dozen volunteered boats.

The 18 volunteers used buckets, shovels, rakes, wheel barrows and good old-fashioned sweat to load boats, which ferried the rock out to the shoals in the 3 ½ hour operation.

The rock was purchased from Nedow Construction and delivered with grant money made available through the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Community Fish and Wildlife Improvement Program.
