Skeletal remains found
by Jule Koch Brison
The sad story of Patty Ann Killingbeck may be drawing to a close. Patty Ann was murdered in 2001 by her husband Ian Esford, who is now serving a life sentence; but her body was never found. On Tuesday morning, April 25,
Kingston
police conducted a search at the K&P Trail on Hwy 509 just north of
Snow Road
and finally found what are believed to be her remains.
The search started at 8 am and involved about 50 people, including volunteers,
Kingston
police, the OPP with specialized search dogs, and the MNR. The first remains were found within half an hour. Det. Sgt. Bill Kennedy of the Kingston Police said that they had been led to the spot in December 2005 but could not do much until the ice and snow were gone. Patty Ann’s family was at the scene on Tuesday. The remains will be sent to the coroner’s office in
Toronto
for positive identification.
